KHW or just “Kate” is a reclusive & accomplished
equine/animal portrait artist and a gifted, knowledgeable Horseman.
Throughout the 1960-1980’s she traipsed along with the Grand-Gold
Circuits of Horse Racing armed with only a 35m Nikon, a Tripod and a
sketch pad. From Santa Anita to Kentucky Horse Park to The
Meadowlands to Hialeah she chased beloved equine flesh. She was
always a diverse follower of ANY equine beauty & heart in action: an
avid, enthusiastic fan of Harness & Thoroughbred Racehorses,
Performance & Racing Quarter Horses, Draft Horses, Buggy & Team
Players, Polo Ponies, Dressage Horses, Grand-Prix Jumpers, Halter
Horses, Steeple-Chasers, and in particular, loving the break-neck
speed, danger & terrific endurance of the famed & fearless 3-day
Eventers. She has termed these Horses: The REAL horsepower!! Today
she owns 2 rotund horsey-pets that just might happen to be World
Class Halter Quarter Horses. The fact that they may gain notoriety
in the USA means little to her when compared to the true grit, fun,
beauty, love & hope they bring to her life. Her renowned art has
hung in many a racing office, portraits of famous racehorses
crossing the finish line or just horsing around. The talent is
obvious, but if you stood in the Racing Stands next to her, you
would never know she was an artist. Her intoxicating flow of
conversation would be all about the “Cool” of the horses. The tales
are amazing.
Kate is a free-thinking nomad. She does not believe in joining Art
clubs & Organizations where the only criteria for doing so is
Monetary dues & name-dropping. You won’t find her advertising her
connections, she doesn’t want the limelight. She wants to share her
horses, her work & her knowledge with whomever shares that special
kindred love & appreciation for ALL horseflesh. Without any
hesitation, she declares openly that whatsoever talent and good is
in her comes from God’s benevolent hand and He ALONE deserves the
Credit. She does promise you that on each item sold that a minimum
of 10% will be tithed to a legitimate charitable work or individual.
